Interesting facts about Virtua Racing
-According to How Long to Beat’s website the average play through takes about 5 hours to complete.
-Currently, about 1 game is sold per day.
-While 3D graphics were already being used for arcade racing games, V.R. is known to be the most influential for its time. Having a higher polygon count, framerate, and overall scene complexity, V.R. stood out among the rest.
-V.R. Was originally designed as a testing platform for future projects. The testing platform was so successful that it was moved into its own title release for arcade and multiple ports.
-To get the 3D math computations done, Sega had to design and develop a special graphics chip for the game to run on the Genesis. Because of this expensive processor, the game retailed in the US at $100 (99.99).
