30th Anniversary: Metal Gear by Konami

Released on July 13th 1987. Originally designed to be a action combat game, the MSX2 couldn’t render enough bullets and sprites on the screen to make it work. Which caused Hideo Kojima to alter the design to be a stealth infiltration game. The iconic style of Metal Gear was created due to primitive hardware. The cover art for the box features a still image of Snake holding a rifle that looks to mirror Kyle Reese from the Terminator, which Konami did with their games for western culture appeal. Similarly to the cover of Contra looking like Arnold Schwarzenegger from the movie Predator.
