Interesting facts about Super Mario Bros. 3
-According to How Long to Beat’s website the average play through takes about 5 hours to complete.
-According to VGChartz, Super Mario Bros. 3 has sold over 17.8 million units worldwide for the NES alone.
-Currently, about 5 games are sold per day.
-Originally designed to have an isometric view, but was discarded when developers believed it was too difficult to judge distances for jumping.
-New iconic enemies are introduced like Chain-Chomps, and the Koopalings – which Nintendo of America named for the NTSC release.
-Introduced a new chip, the MMC3 that allowed Nintendo to split the screen to have the status info at the bottom of the screen. Something that was not doable previously.
-Due to a shortage of ROM chips at the time, Super Mario Bros 3 for the NES was delayed from it’s intended release window. To counter this, Nintendo looked to advertise as much as possible, and allowed licensing of its products that would be included in the movie, “The Wizard.”
-Regarded as one of the best games of all time.
-According to what it takes for a game to “go platinum,” Super Mario Bros 3, has gone platinum over 5 times on the NES/Famciom version alone.
